Hand holding remote, Prime Video shows to binge in a day, TV screen display.

Unwind with These Must-Watch Prime Video Shows

After a long week of classes or work, everyone deserves a day to unwind. Whether you're a student, a remote/hybrid worker, or just in need of some ‘me’ time, binge-watching can be the perfect way to recharge. Looking for something light-hearted or thrilling? Amazon Prime Video offers some outstanding series that can easily fit into one cozy day. Here are four excellent picks!

1. Dead Ringers: A Gripping Remake

Dead Ringers reinvents the classic Cronenberg film with a fresh perspective. The show centers on twin OB-GYNs, Beverly and Elliot Mantle, played by the talented Rachel Weisz, who engage in ethically questionable practices while navigating their complex relationship. With a runtime of just six hours, it's the perfect binge for horror fans looking for ethically disturbing content. This show is a modern must-watch, especially with the commentary it provides on women's healthcare.

2. Daisy Jones & The Six: Rock'n'Roll History

If music and drama are more up your alley, then check out Daisy Jones & The Six. This series is a fictional take inspired by Fleetwood Mac's tumultuous journey through stardom in the 1970s. The show features incredible performances and explores themes of addiction and talent. Running just 10 episodes, you can easily catch all the drama in one day.

3. Jury Duty: A Reality TV Twist

Jury Duty redefines the reality TV genre by blurring the lines between fact and fiction. The show follows an unsuspecting juror as he navigates a court case surrounded by actors. With hilarious situations and unexpected antics, this unique concept makes it a refreshing watch that will leave you laughing.

4. Class of '07: High School Reunion Gone Wrong

For those who enjoy an unexpected plot twist, Class of '07 is an Australian comedy-drama where a group of high school friends reunite only to be interrupted by a catastrophic tidal wave. It’s a whirlwind of nostalgia, drama, and survival, making it perfect for those days when you want to feel joy and warmth. With only eight episodes, it won’t take long before you finish it, bringing a smile to your face.

The Bottom Line: Perfect for All Your Binging Needs

These four series on Amazon Prime Video offer a variety of genres and storytelling styles, ideal for remote/hybrid workers or students seeking an escape for a day. With engaging plots, strong characters, and relatively short runtimes, they are perfect for a binge-session — set up your cozy corner and get ready to enjoy!

Create Your Own Home Assistant Dashboard with a Budget Display

Update Transform Your Home with an Affordable Dashboard Imagine being able to control your lights, check your calendar, and adjust the thermostat, all from a dedicated touchscreen display in your home. With the rise of smart home technology, having such control is becoming easier than ever—especially with budget-friendly solutions like the vESP Cloud editor paired with a low-cost ESP32 touchscreen display. The vESP Cloud offers a user-friendly, web-based visual editor that empowers you to create a custom Home Assistant dashboard without needing to write extensive code. Instead of sifting through configuration files and fighting with coordinates, users can simply drag and drop widgets onto a digital canvas, making it a perfect project for students or anyone new to technology. Getting Started: Your Dashboard Awaits The main hardware component you’ll need for this project is the Guition ESP32-S3-4848S040 display, priced at around $25 on platforms like AliExpress, making it a highly affordable option for creating a smart home interface. The display’s 480 × 480 resolution and touch capabilities allow for an interactive setup where you can see not just performance metrics but also make adjustments with simple taps. When you set up your dashboard, you will start with a Home page that will serve as the main interface. You can customize your space to show essential information, like room temperature and lighting status, while also adding detailed views for controls that aren’t needed all the time. Customizing Your Experience The true beauty of creating your Home Assistant dashboard lies in personalization. vESP Cloud supports various widgets—think buttons, clocks, and calendars—that can be resized and organized as you like. With options to implement tabs or conditional areas, your dashboard can transform based on the time of day or the status of your devices. For example, imagine a media control area that displays relevant playback options when your music player is active, or switches to showing playlist shortcuts when it's not. This flexibility adds a user-friendly dynamic that engages your daily routines. Harnessing Home Assistant's Full Potential To connect your smart home devices to the dashboard, you will utilize the HA Metadata Exporter, which helps package your Home Assistant data neatly into a JSON file. This way, you can import your devices directly into vESP Cloud, eliminating the tedious process of manual entry. However, keep in mind that this file won’t update automatically; you will have to refresh it whenever you add new devices. While you’re creating your dashboard, consider the unique aesthetic options available as well. Choose between retro and modern themes for that extra pop, ensuring your technology doesn’t just fully function but looks great too! Empower Your Smart Home Experience By utilizing inexpensive tech and open-source solutions like vESP Cloud, even students and remote workers can develop a sophisticated smart home control center without emptying their wallets. This innovative approach to custom dashboards is just one example of how technology is increasingly accessible for everyday users, allowing for creativity and personalization in making your home more efficient. Ready to revolutionize your home with a smart dashboard? Dive into the world of home automation and see how simple it can be to enhance your lifestyle with personalized tech solutions!
